DID YOU KNOW
-
Malaria is one of the world’s deadliest diseases caused by parasites that are transmitted to people through the bites of Anopheles mosquito vectors. Of the 5 parasite species that cause malaria in humans, Plasmodium falciparum is the most deadly.
-
Half of the world’s population (3.2 billion) remains at risk of malaria and transmission is ongoing in 97 countries. The burden is heaviest in sub-Saharan Africa where an estimated 90% of all malaria deaths occur. Children aged under 5 account for 78% of these deaths. In 2015, approximately 305,000 African children died before their fifth birthday.
-
Malaria also places a socio-economic burden on families. The growing costs of expenses for drugs and treatment, lost days of work, and absence from school are only a few barriers that saddle families and hamper long-term economic advancement.
OUR VISION
OGOC creates wearable art made with frontline technology to help defeat mosquitos and the diseases they spread. Skintex MR III releases a highly effective repellent called permethrin, which protects against mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges. It has been widely tested and is considered the “insecticide of choice for clothing treatment” by the Environmental Protection Agency and the World Health Organization. Proven both safe and effective, garments with unique aesthetics imbedded with this cutting edge technology will globally inspire healthy and happy communities.
ONE GARMENT ONE CHILD (OGOC)
believes that the health and well-being of a community starts with the child. We are committed to building healthy and happy communities through the prevention of mosquito-borne diseases. Our ultimate goal is to stop the spread of malaria among the most vulnerable populations through the use of insect-repellent garments.
